Parental Expectations (ERMA)
Well, to start off things I most definitely am going to have to say that my parents expect so much from me. They’ve expected so much from me in the past…not as much as others…but nonetheless, a large amount of expectations. Ever since I’ve been in school, they’ve always set high standards for me. They always wanted to me to be an honors student and it looks like they’ve gotten what they’ve wanted so far; I still have yet to get a C on my report card. This past year I’ve come so close to getting a C on my report card on several occasions…especially with this class. AP Chemistry almost shot me down too. Another thing they always pushed me on for is both baseball and Boy Scouts. Ever since I’ve played tee-ball my dad wanted me to stay active by being involved with at least ONE sport. He knew that I excelled in playing it and when he saw that, he knew I might be able to accomplish something out of it like a possible athletic scholarship, but ever since I never made the high school team last year, I realized I wasn’t invincible and my view on baseball was distorted. I still cheer for the Reds and watch the MLB constantly, but playing the game makes things all out of place again. My parents were, at the time, disappointed when I broke the news to them about me deciding to throw in the towel on the sport I cherish most and now to move on with my life. In the Boy Scouts, this is a horse of a different color…my dad pushed me ever since I was a teeny weeny Tiger Cub and from that constant strive for success my dad had put before me, I eventually earned, after nearly involved with it for 10 years, the highest possible rank a Boy Scout could ever earn, the rank of Eagle Scout. It’s amazing what a little bit of pressure can do to you and from where I stand right now, I can tell that my parents are pleased with my constant effort for high grades in each of my classes, helping them out with things outside of school like house chores, getting my driver’s license, looking for a job during the summer time to help pay for things, staying out of trouble (especially this one), and any thing else I can accomplish on down the road of tomorrow.
