162 Reasons Why I Look Forward to This Summer
Ahhh yes, the wondrous 162-game season of Major League Baseball has finally begun after several months of me patiently waiting! Absolutely my most favorite sport to watch than any other sports combined; just the anticipation from it all has me so psyched about it. The one thing that I can’t wait for is when I get to see our own Cincinnati Reds playing in their brand-new ballpark, Great American Ballpark. It was a sad day to see the implosion of Cinergy Field; an especially sad day for my parents where they watched and attended so many games there while the Big Red Machine was around. Personally, it is irrelevant to me whether the Reds do such a fantastic job or not this year in the standings, I watch it for how fun it is. At times, it can get depressing when the Reds lose several in a row, but the experiences of watching nearly every game the Reds have to offer is always a unique one for each game. I’ve attended several of the Red’s games in the past and never saw them win until my last time when I went with Peter, Dan, and Kevin. An absolutely outstanding show for talent and it was like listening to a beautifully compiled opera by Rossini: the yelling, the crack of the bat, the hand gestures, the sliding catches, the pop of the catcher’s mitt. With feats of strength that aren’t considered humanly possible like hitting a spherical object composed of leather and string with an oblong cylindrical wooden hitting device sending into the far reaches of the outfield nearly 450 feet away…simply amazing! The fools who think pitching is accomplished by the strength in your arm when in reality it is nearly the rest of your body that causes one to throw a ball 99 mph. March 31st is the opening season for the Reds and I wish I could be a part of such an historical event, but that’s what happens when tickets sell like mad! L Another delight of baseball season is watching Baseball Tonight on ESPN. Each person with their wisecracks and funny sayings for a homerun like “Adiós Señor pelota” and “BOOYAH!” Only a week away…I’m so happy, I can hardly contain myself!
P.S. -Old ERMA I felt like posting for material...
